Colosseum Club (New 1001, Ex-K7)

Very interesting opening this year with the new Colosseum Club, which used to be part of K7 and is now managed by the same group behind Alexis hotel and Emporium Spa. Colosseum is actually the relocation of the 1001, which closed two years ago and was replaced by Illigals... Still following?

I went to Colosseum a few years ago and it was unfortunately a dying club (see my review here). Too bad because the place is really massive (2,000 persons capacity), one of the biggest in Jakarta and it has a huge potential.

With the new management, we can expect the place to become really popular: The music is now retro and house, with good sound system and spectacular lighting show. Being a part of Alexis group, it goes without saying that they have sexy dancers, fashion shows, and rooms...

1001 Night Club (or Seribu Satu Disco or Thousand and One International executive club) (Hayam Wuruk, next to Stadium) CLOSED

Classy, huge "one-stop entertainment nightclub", but not so crowded. It's located just next to Stadium, it is the building you can see from the street with a big red lighting. The music is Techno Kota, except in the lounge where they have prostitutes from all over the globe. That’s why they call it an International Executive Club I guess, because we’ve not seen many foreigner there.

You have everything you need to party here, as long as you pay: Drugs, sexy girls, spa, karaoke, massage center, a "mandarin" singing hall, and maybe more... It is one of the nightclubs depicted in the book "Jakarta Undercover", a famous book about nightlife in Jakarta, probably the one with the "sashimi sex" scenes.

9M Gay Sauna & Massage Parlour

9M, also called Sembilan M, is a gay sauna and massage parlour with jacuzzi, hot steam, cold bath, etc, located on Jalan Betutu, about 300 meters south of Sudirman. I'm not gay so I never went there, but I think it is quite "hot" and that erotic massages are provided. Please confirm if you go there by commenting on this post.

Alexis Hotel (Ancol, Jl. R. E. Martadinata No. 1 North Jakarta)

The Hotel Alexis is not really a hotel, it’s more like a bordello. You’ve got a good club downstairs, The Play, with house/progressive music and sexy dancers, and a very select lounge/spa on the seventh floor, the Bathhouse, with girls from countries as far as Uzbekistan, Myanmar or Russia coming to entertain the patrons. Entrance fee for the Bathhouse lounge is Rp. 120,000, and no drinks included. Also a karaoke on the 5th floor (I forgot the name), very nice, with flat screen TV and audio equipment suitable for outdoor concerts. Goddam expensive though, about Rp 3.5 million for 4 people.

 In the club the Play, they have a sort of live show with naked girls pretending to have sex, but you can only see the shadow... quite interesting... People call it the Aquarium . Alexis has become one of the most famous party place in Jakarta over the past 2-3 years, along with Stadium, Bats, Blowfish and Red Square. Be sure to check the 7th floor...

Bersih Sehat chain (Massage Traditional)

Bersih Sehat is one reliable address to get good value traditional massages in Jakarta. More affordable than some places like Taman Sari Spa, a 2 hour massage will cost you around 200,000 rupiah. Clean facilities and welcoming service. Once again, it is not a sex spa.

How does it work?

After paying, you will go to a large room where they have about 10 other people getting their massage. Don't worry, there are curtains between everyone so you cannot actually see anyone (but you can hear some noise). Then, you take off you clothes and keep only your underwear. You wrap a towel around your waist, and the massage can start. Bersih Sehat massage girls will usually press you quite hard, so if you prefer a soft massage, you should mention it. At the end, you can take a shower. Don't forget to leave a tip since it is the main source of income for your masseuse (Rp50k is good).

Bimasena Dharmawangsa Spa (Couple Massage)

Bimasena, the luxurious spa in the Dharmawangsa Hotel, in South Jakarta, is a fantastic place to get a massage, especially if you are a newcomer to Asia. Some will say that it is overpriced, and it may be true for a country like Indonesia. However, if you compare the price of a massage in France and in Indonesia, the whole perspective changes. The low cost of living in Jakarta gives you a very good opportunity to enjoy pleasures that can only be rare when in your home(western) countries.

Bimasena, as it is located in a 5-star hotel, has mostly expatriates patrons and travelers, plus it is popular with a small Indonesian elite.
Apart from the traditional Indonesian massages, including lulur and aromatherapy, Bimasena spa also provides some more uncommon massages, like the Hawaiian Lomi Lomi Nui massage or the 90-minute Ayuslomi Ritual. A very special selection of oil is used but I won't describe them here since the massage girls will let you smell them before you start.

Yet, the best part of the spa in Dharmawangsa is not what you think it is: The private rooms upstairs are actually an excellent way to enjoy an erotic spa experience with your partner. You do not need to go to kinky, dodgy massage parlours in North Jakarta to do that: It is right here in the upper class neighborood of Kebayoran Baru. A huge difference however, you cannot find or get a girl there, it is for "real" couples... so no hookers or prostitutes.. be warned haha..

This blog features a lot of massage parlours and spas for men in Jakarta, sometimes with special or extra services provided. Some women spas are mentioned for us girls, like Bersih Sehat or Martha Tilaar. However, concerning couple massages, with at least a private room with a jacuzzi and sauna, even the owner of this blog couldn't tell me where I should go.

I searched a little and found out that most 5 stars hotels spa offer some kind of romantic couple massage experience. But whether it is Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, Nikko Hotel or Borobudur to name a few, they do not allow its customers to have a private jacuzzi for two with a male and a female together. I wanted something else.. I wanted to be able after the massage to enjoy some private moments with my man, without having the massage girl in the room with us.. Finally, people told me that Bimasena had such intimate rooms and I decided to go there. The private suites for couples there can be rented for 4 hours for Rp 1,000,000 with a minimum of Rp 500,000 more spent on massages. For me and my boyfriend, the whole spa experience ended up costing us Rp 1,500,000. The room is absolutely stunning compared to what have seen elsewhere in Jakarta, the atmosphere is so relaxing, and the massages are great. The overall quality of service makes it in my opinion the best spa in Jakarta. The suite has a private Jacuzzi, steam room and hot showers, and the best of all, you can lock yourself inside once the massage girl is done! And of course, you are free to do whatever you want... A great erotic experience for any couples who want to spice up their relationship in Jakarta.. The sequence of the activities is up to you, but the room can only be rented for 4 hours.

New Blue Print Karaoke, Spa, Bar, Lounge and Nightlife (Jakarta, Twin Plaza Hotel, Jalan S. Parman)

Club located on top of Twin Plaza, near Taman Anggrek. Nice view, nice sofa but a bit old. Doesn't seem to attract many customers apart from the Hotel client and a few working girls. It has some sort of private karaoke or spa or massage place, so I wonder if it's a real hotel or if it's only a massage parlour disguising itself as a hotel in order to avoid closing during Ramadan.

Update July 2010: The management of the spa has changed. It's now operated by Rizz Spa, from 10am to 10pm. Price is 325k rp.

Cherry Massage Parlour & Spa

Cherry spa is located in Lokasari, in one of Jakarta's red light district (other areas in Jakarta include Ancol, Little Tokyo, or even the gloomy Kalijodo, read this article from the Jakarta Post: Low-end prostitution in Jakarta).

I've not been there, but it should not be different from the dozens of massage parlours in the vicinity: Cheap body massage with extra service if you pay extra money.

Classic Club Karaoke & Massage Parlour (or Bunker) (Classic Hotel, Jl. K.H. Samanhudi 43-45, Pasar Baru Jakarta)

I went to Classic Club after hearing of a club named "the Bunker"... enough to arouse my curiosity. It took me two months of investigations to find it. The bar is in Classic Hotel and it is actually called Classic Club. It is a one-stop entertainement nightclub with spa/karaoke/massage, a bit like Malioboro, with lots of girls from Uzbekistan also. 100% prostitutes. The patrons are mostly indonesians (no european/american expats but a few Indian and arab) in their 30s or 40s, so the music is not the hippest you will hear in Jakarta.

On the second floor, there is a room called Terminal Classic, where you can see full nude sexy dancers, and lots of them. Famous because you can ask for a threesome.

Delta Spa (Different branches in Jakarta)

Delta Spa is probably the most famous men spa in Jakarta and also the best. It is not a sex spa though: You will always get a plus-plus, but nothing more... Another similar chain of men spas in Jakarta is My Place.

The masseuses in Delta Spa are usually experienced and skillful, much more than in many other more expensive massage parlours. Yet, the prices have almost doubled in the past five years, and it is no longer a cheap venue. It will cost you around 600,000rp for a 3 hour massage + the possibility to use the facilities for the whole day (jacuzzi, sauna, swimming pool, fitness equipment). Perfect way to end up a week-end of clubbing on sundays.

Energy Massage Jakarta

Energy Massage is a new spa in Jakarta providing quality non-erotic massages for men and women. A member of the Massage Association of Indonesia (IKNI - Ikatan Naturopatis Indonesia), I recommend it to you only if you live nearby. It is definitely not worth the ride to Kelapa Gading for those staying in South or Central Jakarta since you have tons of massage options there (see my two guides about the best massages in Jakarta: The Best Traditional Massages in Jakarta and The 10 best spas & massage parlour in Jakarta).

Since Energy Massage is still new, it is really clean and quite cheap. And If I believe the few expats friends I know in Kelapa Gading, most massage parlours there are rather seedy and gloomy, so I reckon it is a good address to know. Also, you can also choose your massage to be provided by a male or a girl. Open every day from 10 am to 10 pm.

FM1 Boutique Hotel, in Taman Anggrek near Hotel Ciputra, is a famous massage parlour & spa, very similar to Hotel Travel in Mangga Besar.

Fortune Spa, Massage and Lounge Bar (Golden Triangle, Jl Mas Mansyur, near Menara Batavia, and in front of Hotel Le Meridien)

Supposedly, Fortune Spa is a one-stop entertainment, but the disco/bar is always empty. The massage parlour is quite popular though, being one of the only high-class massage parlours in Central Jakarta.  My Place and Delta Spa being some other options, though not really considered as upmarket massage joints.

Most of the clients are expats/executives working in Jakarta's business district. It is not a sexual massage parlour with girls and prostitutes like you will find in North Jakarta's red light district (Malioboro, Alexis, V2, Emporium) but a rather mild one with happy ending after the massage (Panti Pijat plus plus).

It is owned by the Comfort Group, which has several massage outlets in Jakarta, among which Comfort Spa, Grand Comfort and Comfort II Batu Tulis.

Facilities of Fortune Spa include: Bar, whirlpool, sauna, fitness center, swimming pool, billiard, mini-theater, shiatsu.

Update June 09: Someone sent a comment saying they had very private VVIP rooms with extra special services provided... but you need to ask the correct person.

Since it is also a hotel, Fortune Spa is open during Ramadhan.

I found this spa after having a drink in The Lounge, Hotel Le Grandeur. They have a big, modern sign from outside, but inside seems a bit crappy, like most "panti pijat" in North Jakarta. They have all the usual spa facilities, hot/cold pool; hammam, jacuzzi, etc...

Golden Crown night club, disco, karaoke and massage spa (Glodok Plaza)

Most popular disco in Kota these days for many Indonesians. There is one huge Techno Kota room and one lounge with live music and house/progressive DJ. Only serves Anker beer. Very mixed crowd, making it an interesting place to go: rich Chinese, Indian, middle class indos, some bules.... One of the few "safe" place to go in Kota if you don't know the city. It will be crowded most days from wednesday to saturday night. Since it's a one-stop entertainment, they also have a spa, karaoke, panti pijat plus plus, dan lain lain...
